Privacy Policy
This English version is provided for convenience. If it conflicts with the Traditional Chinese version, the Chinese version governs.
Playdeck (the "App") is a multiplayer party game played over a local network. This policy explains how we handle data when you use the App. The App has no account system and no game server operated by us; your game content is never sent to us.
1. Data we process
On your device, the App processes your appearance preferences (palette and dark/light mode), player count and team settings, your nickname and player list, mood setting, rule options for each game, unfinished games and room codes, the host address and room code when you join as a player, a randomly generated player identifier, and whether Playdeck + is unlocked.
The App uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the App is used, improve quality, and diagnose crashes and other errors. This data may include which game was opened, how many players started, which rule options were on, whether hosting and joining a room succeeded, the outcome of the purchase flow, the number of characters typed into search, app and prompt language, appearance settings, whether Playdeck + is unlocked, and device and app diagnostic data needed to provide the service.
We do not send your nickname, player list, room code, prompt content, search text, or anything you type in a game through these services. The App does not use an advertising identifier and contains no advertising or cross-app tracking.
2. Local storage
The settings and records above are kept in the App's private storage on your device. You can change your list and settings inside the App; uninstalling the App, or using "Clear storage" for the App in system settings, deletes all of it.
Removing the App normally removes the data it saved on your device; however, system backups, device transfers or existing cloud backups may still hold a copy. The App currently has Android Auto Backup enabled, so settings may be backed up to your own Google account's Drive. We cannot access that copy; manage it through your Google account and backup settings.
When you join a room as a player through a browser, the page stores your nickname, room code and player identifier in your own browser's localStorage so you can rejoin the same round after a disconnect. Clearing site data for that page deletes it. The player page uses no cookies and no tracking technology.
3. Local network connections and data sent during games
Multiplayer games run a local server on the host's device for the duration of the game, and other players join over the same Wi-Fi via a browser or the App. What is transmitted includes your nickname, your in-game choices and input, private content the game sends you (such as roles and scripts), and results made public to the table under the game's rules.
This data only travels within your local network. It does not cross the internet and does not pass through our servers or any third party's; it exists only in memory and disappears when the game ends or the App closes.
Local network connections are unencrypted, so players can join from a browser without installing anything. Someone on the same local network who knows the room code could technically intercept this content. Only use connected features on networks you trust, and avoid public Wi-Fi.
4. Camera and device permissions
The camera is used only when you scan a room QR code. The image is decoded in memory in real time and is never captured, stored or uploaded; you can also join without the camera by typing the address and room code.
The App also uses internet and local network permissions to establish local connections, and foreground service and notification permissions to keep the connection alive during a game and show a status notification, so that the host switching apps or locking the screen doesn't disconnect everyone.
5. Analytics and crash diagnostics
Firebase Analytics is used to understand overall usage, and Firebase Crashlytics collects technical information when a crash occurs. Data processed includes event and screen records, crash stack traces, device model and OS version, app version, approximate country or region, and installation or instance identifiers generated by those services; crash reports also carry technical notes that help locate the problem, such as the screen at the time of the crash, the game code and layout, and the room size.
We use this data only to improve the App. It is not used for advertising, and it is never sold or shared with advertisers.
6. Third-party services and data transfers
The App uses the following services:
- Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics: usage analytics and crash/error diagnostics.
- RevenueCat and Google Play: purchasing, restoring purchases, pricing and entitlement management for Playdeck +. Payment is handled by Google Play; we do not store your payment card information. Transaction, receipt and entitlement data are handled by these services under their own policies.
- Google Play Asset Delivery: on-demand download of content packs for the games you open; the download is handled by Google Play.
- Official website: hosts the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service pages.
These services may transfer data for processing outside the Republic of China (including the United States), subject to each service's own privacy policy and cross-border transfer mechanisms. Other than the above, we do not send your nickname, player list, room code, game content or typed text to any server.
7. Retention and deletion
Local data is kept until you change it in the App, remove the App, or the system clears its data, although retention of backup copies depends on your operating system and account settings. Data held by Firebase, RevenueCat and Google is handled under their own retention and deletion policies; Firebase analytics data is retained for at most 14 months depending on settings. For questions about data within the developer's control, please use the contact details below.
8. Age limit
The App contains adult-oriented prompts (the "18+" mood) and is recommended only for users aged 18 or over. The App offers no account registration; if a minor uses the App, a parent or legal guardian should assist in judging and consenting in accordance with applicable law and platform rules.
9. Data security
We take reasonable measures to limit the App's access to the camera and local data to when it is needed, and design game data to be processed only on-device and within your local network. However, no electronic transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure; see section 3 on unencrypted local connections, and keep your device, operating system account and backups safe.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy because of feature changes or legal requirements. New versions will be published on the App's policy page and the official website; for material changes we will also announce them in the App and on the official website.
